A Tribute To Senior Pastor Emeritus, Reverend T. Leslie Shelton (Pastor Les)
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” ~ 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV
To serve the Lord, as with all things, is a choice. A choice that favors the wise yet comes with significant sacrifices. It is with this in mind that we celebrate the life and leadership of Pastor Les.
Pastor Les Shelton retired from 28 ½ years of shepherding our First Church flock in July 2018. With his mission complete, his heavenly mansion became ready and Pastor Les was escorted home on November 17, 2018 while under the care of his devoted wife, First Lady “Shy Susan”.
Pastor Les allowed himself to be used by God to minister to many over his years of service at First Church, specializing in restoring the broken. With the gift of clear, direct and soul piercing communication, his messages were life changing. His door was always open, along with his heart. He let nothing move him but the Spirit of God, and he gave himself fully to the work of the Lord. Pastor Les’s harvest was great and we shall continue to reap from that harvest as we sow anew through his example.
We are a blessed and grateful flock. Thank you Pastor Les!
