Men's Ministries Abel Martinez

At First Church we enjoy a variety of activities and events for both men and women.  The men enjoy prayer breakfasts, retreats, bar-b-ques, and helping out where they can.

Singles' Ministries Robert Eakin

Have monthly meetings on the fourth Friday of the month, enjoy dinners and do a variety of activities to get together and have a good time.

Women's Ministries Bonnie Martinez

Spring brings our Mother's Day Brunch, Spring Garden Show, and later in the year, Slippers and Comedy.  Women's Bible Studies and various events are always in the planning.

There is also a nursery and a children's choir.  Who can resist those little one's when they get up on the platform and sing their little hearts out to Jesus?  These little guys not only have their own programs, a couple of times a year, but they also help out the Sanctuary Choir during special performances.  It just wouldn't be the same without them!

Prayer Support   Kenna Shelton and Judy Goin

First Church has an active prayer support ministry, lifting before God, the needs of His people. There is a prayer time every Wednesday from 6:30-6:55 pm.  All that attend spend twenty five minutes in prayer.  The Email Prayer Chain is made up of faithful members who receive requests from the church office daily, asking for prayer for people, special needs, and the many ministries of First Church. Both groups are passionate about praying for the needs of our congregation, neighbors and surrounding community.  If you would like to be part of this very important ministry, let us know and you will be added to the Email Prayer Chain distribution list.  When God's people pray, things happen!

Reaching out to people who cannot attend services allows those who otherwise would not hear the message of Christ to find peace and comfort in the love of Jesus.

The primary focus of our outreach ministry is to Demonstrate Christ's love in specific ways, so every person we meet will know they are important, loved and wanted, in Jesus name. Outreach is broken down into several areas such as community needs and events, homeless ministry, and our welcome ministry, to name a few.  

Christian Education/Sunday School

Children are important at Sacramento First Church! Our goal is to develop and nurture the spiritual growth of each child. In all our children's programs we emphasize that God loves children, and wants to be a part of their lives. The First Church Children's ministry includes nursery care, toddlers and preschool, and grade school ministries.  The Sunday School / Bible Study Departments have something for all ages. We believe that learning integrating God's Word into our daily lives is vitally important to the church body. Teaching the aspects of Christian living and the sharing of the love of Christ is at the forefront of our educational philosophy.  Currently we have two adult bible study classes; one topical and one thematic bible class.  Both are discussion based.

Encouragers' Fellowship & Luncheon Mary Durham

Meets the third Thursday of each month at the home of one of the members. If you have experienced a loss, here is  fellowship for ALL who need encouragement. 

First Family  Activities   Chris Abe

Here at First Church we take Christian Fellowship seriously.  We are made up of singles, families, with or without children, seniors, young adults and just about any other category you can think of. We have dinners, game nights, picnics, bar-b-ques, plant exchanges/sales, and attend sporting events and concerts, etc...etc... In other words, just really FUN STUFF!

One Way Youth  Abel Martinez

The Jr. & Sr. High school years are possibly the most perplexing years of an individuals life. From serious devotions and bible study, to exciting & wild events, the love of Jesus is presented in a way to enable our youth to survive in the world today, and find salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ.  We also demonstrate that it is not "all about us" by participating in various summer missions trips and fundraisers for world hunger.  One Way Youth meets with Abel Martinez at 5:00 pm Sunday evening and 7:00 pm Wednesday evening.  Make a plan to join us...you won't regret it.

World Missions  Dennis and Carolyn Howes

We are part of the International Missions Program of the Church of the Nazarene. We take seriously God's mandate to take the Good News of Christ to all people. Our church supports missionaries world-wide through offerings, and special gifts. We  "adopt" specific missionaries who we support financially, and in prayer. Groups from the church also participate in "Work & Witness" trips to assist in building the ministries of other countries, and within the United States. Visit our link to see what we have been doing.                  

Praise Team  Kenna Shelton

The Praise Team leads our church congregation in singing during the morning worship service, and is a vital part of our worship experience. The Praise Team also performs special music and participates in major performances during the year.  They set the stage for an atmosphere of worship and adoration of Jesus Christ. 

Sanctuary Choir   Kenna Shelton

Whether you like to sing in a choir every Sunday or just on a special occasion, our choir is a group of special people called to praise God with their voices. The choir meets for rehearsal Wednesday nights at 7:00p.m., to prepare for special music, and major performances during the year.

Drama  Troy St. Charles

Glorifying God and presenting His message is the main goal of the First Church Drama Team. They are an integral part of our special performances. Both humorous and dramatic material is used to challenge and cause each person to focus inwardly regarding their relationship with Jesus.

Hand Bell Choir  Ellen Holmgren

The hand bell choir here at First Church, gets together to practice for the Christmas and Easter holidays.  They definitely make a "joyful sound" unto the Lord when they perform.  This is a perfect ministry for those who cannot devote time, daily, to practice.

Orchestra/ 28th St. Brass  Bob Holmgren

The Orchestra and Brass accompanies the music service on Sunday mornings and, on occasion, performs special music during the worship services.  If you enjoy playing an instrument, (and it doesn't have to be brass), this may be the ministry for you.

Homeless Ministry  Loanna Hernandez

Every other Saturday at 8:00 a.m., volunteers meet to demonstrate Christ's love by distributing sandwiches, clothes, and other necessities to our community's homeless.  If you would like to participate, either by volunteering or by donating materials, please use the "Contact Us" link above

Team Sports Ron Ferns

First Church has an active sports ministry. We participate in various church softball leagues, schedule bowling nights, and more.

First Church seeks to welcome individuals into the body of Christ by offering the opportunity to participate, and serve, in various ministries.
